Food safety, appearance, carton integrity. The carton board serve multiple purposes. We have spent decades perfecting our boards so that your product can be packed safely for consumers to enjoy.

We use renewable, recyclable and sustainably sourced materials in our packaging solutions. Pure-Pak® cartons are made to keep products fresh for longer, using less plastic than alternative packs. We are constantly developing our boards and reducing the plastic content to offer the most sustainable option in the market.

Our beverage cartons are made from approx. 75% paperboard, inside barriers and are coated with a thin layer of PE for maximum protection. The paper board is coated at our own facilities to guarantee optimum quality. Our different board structures are designed to ensure the integrity of the product and are also protecting the product from the external environment.

Using less wood and fewer bleaching chemicals, resulting in unique, natural-looking cartons which effectively communicate this commitment to sustainability and instantly stands out on the shelves.

Less plastic

Plastic causes issues related to climate, health and littering. Pure-Pak® cartons keep products fresh using significantly less plastic than alternative containers. We are constantly working to reduce the amount of plastics content to remain the preferred choice of responsible businesses.

Lower carbon emissions

Our cartons are made from renewable sources with low carbon footprint by nature. In our manufacturing we only use renewable electricity and we are continously increasing our material efficiency. The flattened shape also means more efficient distribution.

Less fossil fuels

Pure-Pak® cartons consist of on average 75% paperboard, which is naturally made from a renewable resource that grows back: the forest. Renewable packaging has lower carbon footprint than fossil-based alternatives and safeguards resources for generations to come.

A wide portfolio of carton materials

All our cartons are made from sustainably managed forests. Wood is naturally renewable, and offers an ideal protection of liquid foods.

Recyclability

Our cartons are fully recyclable. Recycling lessens the need for virgin material and reduces waste. Our clear goal is to prevent our cartons from going to landfills, and we strongly promote the recycling of cartons.

Paper fibers from beverage cartons are highly desirable because they consist of strong virgin fibers. Our cartons contain fibers of very high quality that can be recycled up to seven times. After collection and sorting, beverage cartons go to dedicated paper recycling mills. Water and agitation separate the paper fiber from the plastic and aluminum layers. The result is a paper fraction used to make new products, such as secondary packaging material.

We work with industry peers to increase and strengthen the collection and recycling of cartons in our markets. The beverage carton industry continues to support recycling by promoting innovation in recycling solutions, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration.

In Elopak we offer certified renewable polymers based on tall oil, a residue from pulp and paper production in the Nordics. The tall oil based feedstock allows Elopak to offer a carton based entirely on wood. The wood is sourced 100% from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources, in accordance with the FSC® or SFI® certification system in North America. Learn more about our forest based renewable PE offering here.

In comparison to fossil based raw materials, renewable alternatives are better for the environment, both in terms of resource depletion and carbon footprint. We ensure that the forest based feedstock is certified according to ISCC PLUS.
